 Session Notes

 

April 28, 2009

The Session met on April 28, 2009 at 8:00 p.m.

Two members of the Presbytery Committee on Ministry visited.  They were making their triennial visit to the session.  Their mission is to affirm and support local ministry and to learn more about the church’s vision.  Pastor Mike reported that Jennifer Santer, Mission Coordinator, will visit during a future session meeting.

Pastor’s Report:  Pastoral visits included Mary and Dave Haselton, George Slocum, Eula Bender and Irma Holley, who will be moving into Carroll Health Center.

Presbytery Meeting is May 12 at 5:30 p.m. in George, IA.

Clerk’s Report: The SESSION VOTED to approve the baptism of Carter Roy Sparks, son of Chris and Kate Sparks, on May 31, 2009.

Finance Committee:  No financial reports were available for review.  Stacy Determann presented forms from Midwest Financial for the church’s Putnam Fund to be signed by Harry Reever and Clerk Linda McClellan.

Buildings & Grounds: The committee has disposed of the old organ.

Christian Ed: Sunday school recognition is scheduled for May 10.  Pins and movie passes will be given, along with a Bible for first grader Ethan Determann and gifts for the graduates.  Last day of classes will be May 3.

Plans for next year Sunday school curriculum are in the works.

Parish Life:  Graduation Recognition Sunday is scheduled for May 17.  Clerk Linda will buy cards for the grads:  Brooke and Bridget Graves and Weston Conner from high school, Zachary Mueggenberg from 8th grade and Alexia Nelson from preschool.

Worship in the Park is scheduled for June 7 at 9 a.m. and will include a brunch.

Stewardship & Mission Interpretation:  One Great Hour of Sharing proceeds have not been reported by the financial committee yet.

Next regular session meeting is May 19, 2009 at 8 p.m.
